Water ConservationPUBLIC MEETINGS AMUD NEWS REALTOR NOTICES CONSERVATION June 12, 2006 By now, many of you have seen the problems water utilities across the state are experiencing. The extended drought conditions are placing a heavy burden on our most precious resource, as evidenced by the initiation of water conservation mandates by many utilities throughout the North Texas area. Until this past week, the District has been able to keep up with the high demands and maintain adequate storage reserves. However, the peak usage over the past several days has taxed the system with demand exceeding 80 percent of the safe operating capacity of our water supply facilities. With system demands at this all time high, if any problems are experienced in our water production and pumping facilities, our storage reserves may be depleted to critical levels. We therefore, must ask everyone to reduce the amount of water being used. We ask that each customer restrict outside watering to at least once every other day. To accomplish this, customers with addresses ending in an even number, can water on days with even numbered dates and customers with addresses ending in odd numbers, can water on days with odd numbered dates. Address OK to Water ending w/ even number even numbered days ending w/ odd number odd numbered days Try to do outside watering during non-peak times, such as before 6 a.m. and after 9 p.m. The outdoor watering plan will take effect immediately. When overall demand for water has been reduced to acceptable levels, we can return to normal use. If the voluntary plan does not curtail water use sufficiently, stronger, mandatory rationing may be necessary. Either way, we will let you know. Some tips for saving water around the house:
Remember, any amount of water you save will be helpful. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions or need more information please call the AMUD office. |
