Water ConservationJuly 6, 2011 As indicated by the Drought Monitor map, approximately 95 percent of Texas is currently suffering from “severe” to “exceptional” drought conditions – including Hood County. These conditions are placing a heavy burden on water resources throughout the state, and have prompted the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to call on all public water suppliers to implement their Drought Contingency Plans. Due to extremely dry conditions, the District has seen a dramatic increase in demand for water as well. With much of the summer season still ahead, we are concerned that this trend will continue. At this time we have been able to keep up with the high demand and maintain adequate storage reserves. However if any problems are experienced in our water production and pumping facilities, our storage reserves may be depleted to critical levels. The District is therefore implementing Stage I of the Drought Contingency Plan at this time, and asking everyone to restrict outside watering to no more than once every other day. To accomplish this, customers with addresses ending in an even number can water on days with even numbered dates, and customers with addresses ending in odd numbers can water on days with odd numbered dates. ending with even number even numbered days ending with odd number odd numbered days Please visit our web site for water saving tips around the house.
